Amazing Moms

Mom’s Special Day

Mother’s Day is one of those holidays that has become so commercialized people have really forgotten what is about.  One of the best ways to show mom that you really care is to take the time to do something special with her.  Flowers are always nice but moms really appreciate the time you spend with them.  Make a memory.  Give it a try and make her a handmade card!  You don’t have to be an artist.  Let’s just take the time to make her feel special.

I was really touched to find that my mother-in-law has held onto all the handmade cards I’ve made her over the years in a box.  She had ones that I even forgot I made.  She is truly a special lady.

The colors for this card were pulled directly from the Succulent Garden designer series paper.  The paper is always a good starting point when designing a new card.  The colors always look amazing together. This paper is on sale. It was $11.00 NOW $6.60.

Everyday Tags Stamp Set

I am sad that this stamp set is retiring. It has some really great sentiments besides being used with the framelits.  The good news though is that they are on sale. The clear mount set was $19.00 and is NOW $14.25.

Making the Card

To make the sentiment the two colors, color the sentiment with the calypso coral marker. The outside border is colored with the old olive marker.  Simply huff over the colored stamp a couple times to re-moisten the stamp, and stamp as usual.  Cut out the entire image with the 2 inch circle punch. Then sponge with the sweet sugarplum ink around the edges. Cut out a piece of the succulent paper with a 2 1/2 inch punch. Layer the two pieces with dimensionals.  I went back and added some sparkle with the wink of stella clear pen on the border.

Make sure you check out all the retiring products used on this card.  There are some real bargains. The embellishment pack is also on sale.  It was $12.00 and is NOW $8.40.

Supplies are limited on retiring items so get them today before they are gone. Click on any item in my supply list to go directly to my online store.

Thanks for stopping by today and Happy Mother’s Day!

Carousel Birthday Wish

Color Palette

Featuring the new Occasions catalog Carousel Birthday stamp set from Stampin’ UP and the matching DSP paper stack, this handmade card makes for a special birthday. The colors in the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP stack inspired the color palette for the card.

The Carousel Birthday stamp set features two lovely old fashioned sentiments that go with the whimsical stamps in this set.  The inside of the card featured the second sentiment.

The banners on the front of the card are hand cut.  The horse and the circus tent were fussy cut using paper snips and popped up on dimensionals. The ferris wheel image is stamp directly on the DSP using early espresso ink.

I hope you enjoy making today’s project.  If you currently do not have a demonstrator, I would love to earn your business.

A Cute Cupcake

Another Challenge

Today’s project owes it’s life to MOJO Monday Challenge 479 and Color Throwdown’s Swatch 425.  Check out these great sources of inspiration.  I had fun with the color palette: Basic Black, Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry.  When doing the 3 step stamp of the cupcake, I embossed with white powder for the final step.  The Falling Petal embossing folder gave some texture to the background as well as the numbered paper from the Party Animal DSP.

Those Sweet Cupcake framelits include the banner piece that was used on this card as well as the wish sentiment.  You can bundle the two products together and save 10%.

I cannot seem to stop using the Stitched framelits from Stampin’ UP even though they are currently unavailable. I hope Stampin’ UP brings them back.  They make such a classy edge on the cut shape that was perfect for MOJO Monday’s challenge.

Merriest Wishes for GDP052

Case The Designer

The Global Design Project always has some fun ideas to try out.  This card by Teneale Williams gave me the inspiration for the layout of this card although I tried it out with some deeper shades of blue and green.  This year’s In colors are some of my new favorites. Here is the link to the Global Design Project Challenge:

Merriest Wishes Bundle

When I saw this bundle in the Holiday Catalog, it went on my wishlist as a top priority.  I love the framelits that match the stamp set because I love to make my own gift tags for Christmas every year.  It also makes lovely Christmas cards as well.

I paired it with the Pine Bough Embossing Folder to add a little more texture to the card base.  The stamped snowflakes add a little pizzazz and a punch of color.

First you want to start with a Emerald Envy card base of 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. Run the card base through the Big Shot using the Pine Bough Embossing Folder so that the pine image will be on the left side of the card.

Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to 3″ x 4 1/4″. Stamp the snow image on the right side of the card stock, once at the top and once at the bottom in Dapper Denim ink.

Cut out the deer tag using the Merry Tags framelit die on the Big Shot, once from the Emerald Envy card stock, once from the Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper and once from the Chocolate Chip card stock.  Punch out a 2 inch circle with the circle punch.

Using the Emerald Envy tag as the base, remove the green deer with your paper snips. Snip off the tab at the top of the tag.

From the Dazzling Diamonds tag, remove the deer, trees and snow.  On the Chocolate Chip tag, remove the deer.  img_1291-1

Glue the Dazzling Diamond trees behind the Emerald Envy trees.  Glue the Dazzling Diamond snow to the front of the Emerald Envy tag. Glue the entire Emerald Envy tag to the Dapper Denim circle centering it in the middle.  Glue the Chocolate Chip deer to his proper place.

Wrap a piece of the ribbon around the left edge of the snow stamped on the white card stock.  Fasten the deer tag in the middle with dimensionals. Add a ribbon bow to the top of the deer tag. Attach it to the front of the card with dimensionals.

Stamp the Merriest Wishes sentiment in Dapper Denim ink on whisper white card stock. Punch it out with the Duet Banner punch.  Punch an additional banner out of Emerald Envy card stock and glue to the back of the banner.  Please note that when you punch out your sentiment, it will be upside down.  It follows the curve of the tag that way.  Attach the banner to the card front with dimensionals.

I added a scrap of Dapper denim paper to the inside of the card as well as a stamped sentiment from the Merriest Wishes stamp set.  If you liked my card, and want to make one yourself, visit my online store by clicking any of the supplies below.
